Manufacturing Operations Supervisor

Position Overview

The Manufacturing Operations Supervisor plays a crucial role in orchestrating and overseeing all production activities to ensure timely delivery while prioritizing safety. This position involves supervising hourly coordinators and production staff, focusing on performance evaluation and coaching to enhance productivity. Additionally, the supervisor is expected to actively contribute to the SQDCME Scorecard initiatives, which encompass Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Morale, and Environment within their designated area.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversees the workflow and personnel involved in the manufacturing of products within the assigned department and shift to achieve schedule goals.
  • Formulates and implements production strategies to meet departmental and plant objectives across all SQDCME metrics.
  • Completes the daily production agenda by organizing and assigning tasks to personnel, ensuring effective work outcomes and setting priorities.
  • Achieves production targets by effectively managing labor in accordance with operational needs and providing clear job expectations.
  • Guides, directs, and develops production staff, ensuring they are trained to utilize all equipment and tools correctly.
  • Mentors and advises employees while coordinating and enforcing process controls, company policies, and procedures.
  • Encourages a clean and safe working environment throughout the facility.
  • Initiates and nurtures a spirit of collaboration within and among departments.
  • Regularly updates and maintains Safe Work Instructions (SWIs) and completes necessary audits.
  • Leads, advocates for, and supports continuous improvement initiatives, including the ECO System.
  • Facilitates and supports training and onboarding processes for all new hires.
  • Creates cross-training plans for hourly coordinators and employees, maintaining skills matrices.
  • Performs additional job-related responsibilities as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Engineering, or Technology is preferred.
  • Significant supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Ability to identify OSHA compliance issues and manage hazards effectively.
  • Capability to lead, inspire, and develop team members.
  • Experience in implementing lean manufacturing principles, 5S, and other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Kronos, ADP, SAP, and other relevant business software/systems is preferred.
  • Demonstrated capacity to manage and prioritize multiple projects concurrently.
