Job Summary:

The Family Services Specialist II is a critical role in the Commonwealth of Virginia's human services program. This position requires a strong understanding of social work principles and practices, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Interpret and apply laws, policies, and regulations related to human services program areas.
  • Monitor and coordinate specific programs as assigned, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Coordinate services within specific areas of responsibility, including case management and client assessment.
  • Interview and assess client needs, providing counseling and referrals as necessary.
  • Present cases to determine appropriate services and develop/implement service plans.
  • Provide case management services to monitor compliance and ensure timely delivery of services.
  • Manage program waiting lists and track expenditures, preparing and submitting budget estimates as required.
  • Complete necessary federal, state, and local planning and reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate with other agencies and participate in multi-disciplinary and interagency teams to provide services to clients.
  • Conduct overall monitoring of programs in specific areas of responsibility.
  • Serve as a resource to clients and the community in area of expertise.
  • Provide after-hours on-call coverage and respond to emergencies in child/adult protective services and/or foster care.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field or a Bachelor's degree in any field with a minimum of two years of appropriate and related experience in a Human Services area.
  • Experience in assigned program area and completion of required training programs or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Possession of a BSW or MSW degree and a Commonwealth of Virginia Social Worker license are desirable.
