Position Overview

The Information Governance Manager plays a crucial role within the Information Governance Department Management team, contributing to the firm’s information governance strategy by leading key initiatives related to the management of the firm’s information assets. As an expert in the field, the Information Governance Manager evaluates processes to ensure compliance and efficiency across all departmental functions. This role includes overseeing daily operations and supporting team members, while employing industry-standard methodologies and advanced information governance technologies to manage the secure handling of client and business records.

Essential Job Functions

  • Oversees training for IG team members.
  • Manages assignments and performance expectations for IG team members.
  • Provides ongoing feedback and coaching to enhance team performance.
  • Supervises daily operations of the IG Department, including digital file management and retention strategies.
  • Ensures compliance with processes, conducting quality control and tracking production.
  • Assists in strategic planning and process analysis for the department.
  • Maintains and analyzes the records management system to ensure data integrity.
  • Acts as project manager for all records and information management initiatives.
  • Facilitates secure transfer processes for both hardcopy and electronic files.
  • Conducts occasional travel as necessary for departmental needs.
  • Performs additional duties and projects as assigned.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Preferred educational background in library science, information technology, or records management.
  • A minimum of two years in a supervisory or management role is required.
  • At least three years of experience in records management or information governance within a legal context is essential.
  • Certifications such as Certified Records Manager or Information Governance Professional are advantageous.
  • Advanced knowledge of information governance principles and technologies is required.
  • Experience with legal hold management and lifecycle management of client files is essential.
  • Proficiency in Records Management Systems, particularly FileTrail, is preferred.
  • Experience with Document Management Systems, especially NetDocuments, is advantageous.
  • Strong skills in electronic file management and project management methodologies are required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is necessary.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs.
