Work Schedule: Full-time, typically a 40-hour work week, with hours varying based on operational needs.
Compensation: Starting at $16 per hour, with higher rates available for candidates with relevant experience.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist in the preparation of all meals, following standard recipes and accommodating special dietary requirements, in accordance with USDA CACFP guidelines.
2. Portion food appropriately for serving.
3. Collaborate with the Cook/Food Service Director to maintain accurate daily production records.
4. Ensure cleanliness and organization of the work area at all times; maintain and clean kitchen equipment.
5. Conduct food temperature checks prior to service.
6. Store food safely and correctly, labeling with date, time, and description.
7. Aid in the development of monthly menus for children from infancy to preschool age.
8. Support the submission of attendance records and meal counts to the Food Service Director at month-end, ensuring compliance with DOH Sanitation, USDA CACFP, and national accreditation standards.
9. Utilize the company vehicle to assist the Cook/Food Service Director with grocery shopping from USDA-approved suppliers as needed.
10. Help ensure efficient use of supplies and equipment to minimize waste and loss.
11. Report any equipment repair needs to the Food Service Director.
12. Adhere to school appearance guidelines and other relevant policies.
13. Deliver meals to designated locations using company transportation.
14. Additional responsibilities may be assigned based on organizational needs.
Additional Duties:
1. Perform supportive tasks that may vary based on individual circumstances.
2. Prepare and serve food for special events as required.
3. Attend training sessions and staff meetings as necessary.
4. Assist with monthly observations at assigned locations as directed.
5. Complete other assigned tasks as needed.
Work Environment:
• Indoor settings, including air-conditioned or naturally ventilated kitchens, dining areas, and storage facilities.
Equipment Proficiency:
1. Familiarity with kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, dishwashers, slicers, coffee machines, mixers, steamers, and chef's knives.
2. Basic computer skills.
3. Use of designated company vehicles for meal transportation and related errands.
Mental, Physical, and Communication Requirements:
Mental:
• Must ensure compliance with State DHS Licensing health regulations.
• Requires focus and clear vision to follow instructions and operate equipment.
• A strong work ethic and reliable attendance are essential.
Physical:
• Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
• Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting of up to 50 pounds or more.
• Manual dexterity is necessary for kitchen tasks.
Communication:
• Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of individuals, including staff, families, and children, while being sensitive to their cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid State of Hawaii Driver License with a clean driving record.
