The Rental Shop Team at Arapahoe Basin is dedicated to providing our guests with an unforgettable experience every time they visit our Rental shop. Our enthusiasm for skiing and snowboarding drives us to share that passion with all our guests. As a Rental Shop Specialist, you will collaborate with your team to assist and equip guests with their chosen rental gear while addressing inquiries and delivering exceptional customer service. This role may also involve the maintenance and repair of ski and snowboard equipment. Rental Specialists will undertake additional tasks as assigned by the Rental Manager, Assistant Manager, or Rental Lead, representing Arapahoe Basin with professionalism.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote the culture, values, and mission of Arapahoe Basin.
  • Collaborate as a team to deliver outstanding customer service to all guests in the rental shop.
  • Welcome guests and assess their needs upon entering the shop.
  • Understand and convey the rental and demo equipment packages and features to ensure the best fit for guests.
  • Ensure guests are properly equipped for their day on the mountain.
  • Fit guests with necessary rental equipment including boots, helmets, skis/snowboards, ski poles, etc.
  • Maintain composure during busy periods and manage smooth transitions to uphold store standards.
  • Utilize the RTP rental system effectively to ensure accurate check-out and check-in of equipment.
  • Process returns of rental gear after guest use.
  • Maintain the rental fleet and inventory.
  • Assist in tracking equipment and inventory regularly.
  • Ensure cleanliness of the rental shop and surrounding areas.
  • Perform other assigned duties as needed.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Previous experience in rental or customer service preferred.
  • Familiarity with rental software systems preferred.
  • Experience with ski and snowboard tuning and binding adjustments preferred.

Skills:

  • Excellent teamwork and customer service skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Friendly, approachable demeanor and comfort in working with people.
  • Experience with rental POS systems preferred.
  • Highly reliable and proactive in managing responsibilities.
  • Ability to perform basic math for technical settings of rental gear.

Physical Requirements:

  • Basic ability to use hand tools.
  • Ability to stand and walk for up to 10-hour shifts.
  • Ability to lift boots, bindings, and skis frequently throughout each shift.
  • Ability to operate tuning equipment and general tools.
  • Capability to perform a full range of body motions: bend, twist, kneel, push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to navigate stairs.
  • Must withstand high altitude conditions at all times.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must pass ski manufacturers' binding certification (on-the-job training provided).
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Present a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance.
  • Availability on weekends and holidays is required.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.

Work Environment:

  • Primarily indoor work in a high-altitude environment, with a significant amount of guest interaction required.
