Haweo is seeking a candidate with strong technical writing skills to join our team of business architects and business process specialists. The ideal candidate will document and improve processes as a member of the team while helping to ensure that all documentation produced looks professional and is error free. A perfect candidate will help the team organize and structure information to make sense of complicated technical subjects.
What will you do?
- Prepare accurate and well written technical documents.
- Edit and improve the readability of process documentation.
- Ensure all documents are error free and written in a professional manner.
- Lead and facilitate discussions with stakeholders and subject matter experts to elicit information needed to document and improve processes.
- Attend meetings and take summary notes
- Improve internal processes by identifying areas for improvement and supporting continuous improvement efforts
Remote but should be in reasonable distance for occasional trips to Mechanicsburg, PA.
Requirements/Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in related disciplines such as Technical Writing, Technical Communication English, Communications, or Journalism
- 10 years of direct experience editing or preparing technical documentation
- Ability to present technical information in plain English
- Ability to apply structure, order, and formatting to increase reader comprehension
- Ability to write complete paragraphs based on bulleted information
- Excellent skills in MS Word including using and applying styles
- Experience editing or developing detailed process documentation
- Ability to provide feedback to original authors of technical documentation to improve quality
- Ability to draft compelling executive summaries
- Ability to create visually appealing slide show presentations
- A desire to learn process improvement skills (such as Lean/Six Sigma, business process mapping, etc.)
- Must be a US citizen
Preferred Skills
- Experience using MS-Visio
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt
- Experience working in fully remote teams
- Experience applying the Federal Plain Language Guidelines
- Experience in a U.S. Government environment (Navy/DoD experience preferred)
Background Requirements
Due to this being a contract position working for the US government all candidates must be a U.S. citizen and pass a criminal and financial background check as well as a drug test.
Physical Requirements:
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Position may require typing and reading from a computer screen. Must have sufficient mobility, including but not limited to bending, reaching, and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner. May include lifting weight up to 30 pounds as necessary.
