The Plant Sanitation Manager reports to the Director of Operations. and primarily cleans and sanitizes the plant and all the equipment. The Sanitation Managerplays a crucial role in ensuring the food production facility adheres to health and safety standards, maintaining the quality and safety of food products. Their responsibilities include:Implementing Cleaning Protocols: Overseeing the implementation of cleaning procedures to maintain hygiene and sanitation.Managing Sanitation Teams: Supervising sanitation supervisors and crews to ensure compliance with sanitation standard operating procedures.Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring adherence to local, state, and federal sanitation regulations.Quality Control: Focusing on the effective elimination of bacterial load and aesthetic conditions of equipment and plant.Documentation: Preparing and maintaining necessary documentation related to sanitation practicesEssential Job Responsibilities:Follow all GMP s and company s safety policies.Oversee and manage all sanitation and cleanliness activities within the food manufacturing facility.Develop and enforce sanitation policies and procedures to ensure compliance with food safety regulations and standards.Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure that sanitation practices are being followed.Train and supervise sanitation staff to maintain high standards of hygiene and safety.Collaborate with other departments to address and resolve any sanitation-related issues.Maintain accurate records of sanitation activities, inspections, and compliance.Follow safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your team.Assist with periodic facility inspections and audits conducted by internal and external regulatory agencies.Full understanding of Safe Quality Food (SQF), responsibility for Food Safety or Food Quality Issues.Equipment and Facility Sanitization: Oversee the cleaning and sanitization of all equipment, machinery, production areas, and facilities to prevent cross-contamination and ensure a hygienic environment for food processing.Chemical Handling and Safety: Manage the storage, handling, and use of cleaning chemicals and sanitizers in accordance with safety protocols and regulatory guidelines to minimize risks to personnel and food safety.Monitoring and Inspection: Conduct routine inspections and monitoring of sanitation practices, equipment cleanliness, and facility hygiene to identify potential hazards or deficiencies and take corrective actions as necessary.Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of sanitation activities, including cleaning schedules, inspection reports, chemical usage logs, and corrective actions taken, to demonstrate compliance with sanitation standards and regulatory requirements.Compliance Assurance: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including FDA Food Code, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) principles, and other applicable food safety standards and guidelines.Education and Experience:High School Diploma or equivalent required.10 years
experience in a food manufacturing facility10 years' experience in a plant sanitation position
