Refrigeration Field Service Technician Apprentice

Joe Warren & Sons Company Inc. (JWS) is a leading provider of commercial refrigeration and food equipment services throughout New England. As we continue to grow, we're seeking a Refrigeration Service Technician Apprentice to join our team in CT. Established in 1991, JWS is a family-owned business headquartered in Norwood, MA, with a dedicated team of technicians serving New England. Apprentice Overview: The Refrigeration Apprentice will work alongside experienced Service Technicians, gaining hands-on experience in installations, service, and maintenance. We service a variety of commercial kitchen equipment, including Walk-in Coolers and Freezers, Ice Machines, and Refrigeration units. This is an excellent opportunity to learn from industry experts and build a thriving career.

Field Apprentice Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with technicians to master various tasks.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment.
  • Maintain refrigeration units.
  • Document repairs thoroughly.
  • Install replacement components like compressors and evaporators.
  • Ensure equipment meets manufacturer specifications.
  • Present proposals to clients as needed.
  • Solve problems efficiently.
  • Organize tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Communicate effectively and maintain strong relationships.
  • Travel to job sites throughout Connecticut/Rhode Island.
  • Interpret engineered drawings and operation sequences.
  • Understand HVAC/R system operations.
  • Showcase or learn controls installation skills.

Apprentice Requirements:

  • 2-year technical certification or associate degree.
  • Motivation to work in the HVAC/R industry, preferably with 1-3 years of HVAC/R related experience.
  • Troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • EPA universal certification (preferred).
  • Valid drivers license with a clean record.
  • Possess essential hand tools.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Physical ability to perform job tasks, including walking, standing, driving, and lifting.

Pay Range: $22-28/hr based on experience
