Job Description Trade Manager - Valdosta, GA This is a full time, Salary exempt position. MAIN FUNCTION:The position will be accountable for the procurement of soybeans for Valdosta and trading of southeastern soybean position to achieve desired financial results.
The position is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with both external and internal customers, including the handling of logistics, accounting, and other customer related issues. KNOWLEDGE, COMPETENCIES & SKILLS:University degree in agriculture or business (i.e. economics, finance, accounting), supplemented with a desired five (5) years' experience in commodity merchandising. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered. Demonstrated capacity to excel within high risk, fast-paced work environment. Proven ability to assess risk and exercise sound judgment in making decisions. Demonstrated negotiation and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the domestic and international trade. Proven ability to manage effectively within a team based work environment. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with end-users, suppliers, and internal customers. Computer competent, with demonstrated ability in the use of spreadsheet, database, and word processing software. Applications within a windows based operating environment. Individual must be committed to corporate ethics policies and safety programs.Analytical ThinkingBusiness SavvyResults OrientedInformation SeekingSelf ConfidenceConceptual ThinkingInformation SeekingProactiveOrganizational AwarenessDESCRIPTION OF WORK PERFORMED: Builds & maintains relationships with a wide range of customers, including premium and volume accountsDevelops key communication links within ADM to ensure optimal use of ADM facilities and market access, an understanding and awareness of market requirements and facilitate the effectiveness of ADM assetsUnderstands customer requirements in order to collaborate and add value to both companiesStrategically seeks out new business that would profitably enhance company assetsIs able to prepare & present reports to management detailing customer issues and opportunitiesMaintains a clear customer account list and provides detailed background information in filesPrice discovery and bid/offer maintenance to enhance risk management and pricingHandles all accounting related issues in a timely manner to ensure good customer serviceEnsures the most cost efficient transportation and logisticsDevelops a good working knowledge of freight spreads and competitor activitiesWorks to make quick decisions in a fast market while accepting the responsibility to defend them logicallyDevelops a clear understanding of local, national, world market, and trendsAggressively makes outbound phone calls to deliver and receive timely market informationUnderstanding of margin calculations & their effect on commodity pricingUnderstands the value of ADM owned transportation (i.e. barges, trucks and railcars) and how to enhance valueUnderstands and has strict adherence to corporate compliance policies, safety systems, trainings and programsEnsures that individual goals are aligned with company goalsConstantly works on individual and personal development within the companyDevelops good understanding of local plant operationsWorks to attain positive, cooperative relationships with internal colleagues across divisions and responsibilitiesEffectively use communication channels for proper coordination within the office and other locationsPortrays a positive image of the company and self when interacting with customers and colleaguesIs willing to work outside normal business hours including weekends with limited travel required throughout the yearExcited about this role but don't meet every requirement listed?
