Relationship Manager/Compliance Consultant

Relationship and Strategic Project Management Team, Compliance and Ethics

Full-time (Hybrid - 3 days/week onsite)

The Opportunity

As a Relationship Manager, you are critical to delivering a positive customer experience by providing holistic compliance solutions and connecting business partners with other compliance subject matter experts. The candidate must be able to detect and assess risk from a broad Company perspective by identifying situations when business line activities may impact or overlap with other business areas. Relationship Managers must understand the business areas that they support including product offerings, distribution models, operations and technology. The ideal candidate will be able to work collaboratively, share best practices and influence business partners and peers at all levels of the organization.

The Team

As a member of the Relationship and Strategic Project Management team, you will support one or more of our business partners including Operations, Third Party Distribution and New Markets, Institutional Solutions and MMFA Brokerage. You will also support the activities of our wholesale broker/dealers, MMLD and MSD.

The Impact

Provide day-to-day consulting and project support for business partners to ensure compliance with regulations and MassMutual policies
Design, document and maintain risk-based, data driven and sustainable compliance programs for specific lines of business/distribution models
Identify business partner and Compliance & Ethics training gaps/opportunities
Educate Compliance & Ethics team members on business unit function, priorities and initiatives to build business acumen and improve business partner experience
Share information between Relationship Managers and Compliance & Ethics team members to identify and address common risks and business trends
Support and influence the development of data-based visual reporting for business leaders

The Minimum Qualifications

Associate’s Degree
FINRA Series 6 obtained within 6 months of start date
10+ years of experience in compliance/risk and/or subject matter expertise in one or more of the following areas: group voluntary benefits, life insurance, annuities, insurance/annuity operations

Ideal Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Solid understanding of the insurance industry and third-party distribution
Critical illness and accident insurance experience
Excellent interpersonal skills that drive partnership and allow Compliance to have a seat at the table for day-to-day issues, projects and strategic initiatives
Business and compliance acumen that build the credibility necessary to influence business partner decision-making
Willingness to challenge the status quo and find innovative solutions to meet business partner needs
Intellectual curiosity and courage to ask the questions necessary to build knowledge and understanding
Comfort interacting at all levels of the organization
Courage to have crucial conversations with external and internal partners on challenging issues
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to analyze data to detect trends and identify potential compliance concerns
Agile mindset allowing for quick re-prioritization in response to business partner needs and objectives
Resilience to adapt and thrive in complex, uncertain and changing situations
