As a Capital Project Manager, you will be essential in procuring goods and services vital for the execution of capital projects within our organization. You will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to identify project requirements, source suppliers, negotiate contracts, and ensure the timely delivery of materials and services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with project managers and stakeholders to understand the scope, schedule, and budget requirements of capital projects.
- Procurement Strategy Development: Develop and implement procurement strategies to support capital project needs, ensuring alignment with project objectives and timelines.
- Market Research and Supplier Evaluation: Conduct market research and evaluate suppliers to identify those capable of meeting project specifications, quality standards, and delivery requirements.
- Contract Negotiation: Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to secure competitive pricing, favorable payment terms, and service level agreements.
- Procurement Management: Manage the procurement process for capital project-related materials and services, including issuing purchase orders, tracking deliveries, and resolving procurement-related issues or disputes.
- Supplier Performance Monitoring: Monitor supplier performance and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure compliance with contractual agreements and project requirements.
- Demand Forecasting and Inventory Management: Collaborate with project teams to forecast demand, manage inventory levels, and mitigate procurement-related risks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Reporting: Provide regular updates on procurement activities, cost projections, and supplier performance to project stakeholders and management.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements throughout the procurement process.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, engineering, project management or a related field.
- Proven experience as a procurement specialist, project buyer, or similar role, with a strong track record of managing procurement activities for capital projects successfully.
- Solid understanding of procurement principles, practices, and procedures, including strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, and supplier management.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven procurement decisions.
- Proficiency in MRP Systems (JD Edwards preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
This role requires a proactive and strategic approach to procurement, ensuring that all materials and services necessary for capital projects are sourced effectively and delivered on time, contributing to the successful execution of our organization's projects.
