Track Maintenance Technology Specialist

Lexington, United States Keeneland Association Full time

Maintains track surface documentation on Dirt, Turf and Synthetic tracks. Performs various testing and measurements on all surfaces. Responsible for maintaining budgets, purchase orders, equipment inventory and equipment maintenance records. This position may at times work weekends.

ESSENTIAL DUTES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Monitors and documents composition level and depth of surface and cushion of the main track and the training track, using Global Positioning Systems, manual equipment and outside vendors as necessary
  • Documents all maintenance on a daily basis for main, turf and training tracks and provides reports to management.
  • Maintains documentation of any changes to equipment and preventative maintenance performed on all equipment.
  • Performs clerical duties such as maintaining inventory records and filing.
  • Performs preventative maintenance such as changing oil, replacing belts, etc. Performs minor corrective maintenance on equipment, such as trucks, tractors, track equipment, etc. to repair equipment.
  • Order all supplies and materials for the racetracks.
  • Prepares department budget and monitors expenditure of funds in budget.
  • Creates schedules and manages payroll.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Four year degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Driver’s license and a Kentucky Horse Racing Commission License.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
