SUMMARY:

We are seeking a Technical Project Manager who has worked in a technical domain (e.g. software development, application infrastructure) and also has experience working as a Project Manager.  We will also consider someone with the required technical background who wants to change their career direction and become a Technical Project Manager.  The Technical Project Manager will be responsible for execution of key IT projects.  They will own schedule, milestones, identification of risks and mitigations, communication of status and critically they will participate in and drive/influence technical direction for the project(s).  This person will be part of the Engineering IT Strategy, Delivery & Integration Team. 

Required Technical Skills – 3 years in 1 or more of the following technical domains:

  • End-to-end software development lifecycle: design, developing, debugging, test planning/validating, optimization, customer engagement and production support.
  • Unix/Linux environments, distributed systems and/or developing large scale web applications.
  • High performance computing (HPC) optimization solution delivery that enables semiconductor product design execution.
  • Predictive modeling, and/or large-scale data analysis.
  • Machine Learning applications, database technologies, Extract, Transform, Load  (ETL), user interface design and full-stack development technologies, architecture to facilitate scope and effort estimation validation with functional teams.

Required Project Management/Interpersonal Skills

  • Hands-on experience in software project management or delivering software-based products.
  • Engage Engineering stakeholders, help elicit requirements & drive stakeholder support/alignment.
  • Ensure clear definition and alignment of project objectives & success criteria with IT Sponsor and project team.
  • Create work breakdown structure (WBS), identifying internal/external dependencies, defining task effort and duration estimates and tracking project schedule.
  • Manage project performance (e.g. scope, schedule, budget)
  • As needed interact effectively with IT senior management to report project status, & communicate risks and issues
  • Ability to communicate clearly & concisely, both verbally and in writing
  • Work very effectively globally, across time-zones & with diverse matrixed teams.
  • Deal well with ambiguity and make high quality data driven decisions.
  • Orchestrate technical contributors to execute efficiently and effectively.
  • Develop/publish metrics, dashboards that clearly demonstrate project status and value delivery.
  • Contribute to Technical Project Management process improvements.

Preferred Technical Experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • 3+ years’ experience with systems engineering or product development in silicon design and product lifecycles (IP, SOC and platforms).
  • 3+ years’ experience in a software engineering role and good knowledge of scalability issues and multi-tiered solutions.
  • 3+ years’ experience working directly with internal or external clients. Previous experience in customer-facing and or consulting role a plus.
  • Analytical skills to prioritize mission-critical work activities and communicate priorities to others, remove roadblocks that threaten to derail progress, and make timely and difficult decisions about tradeoffs with incomplete information.

Other Desirable Skills

  • Enable IT solutions for large scale software development, Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipeline enablement.                        
  • Agile/Scrum Master Certification
  • PMP Certification

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Bachelor of Science degree (preferably in software development, SW/HW engineering, computer science, information technology, or related technical field)
