Job Description

GovCIO is seeking a highly skilled Technical IT Project Manager to lead our IT software projects in the data center operations environment. The ideal candidate will have experience working with large scale data storage, event monitoring and management, and library based backups.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership for IT software projects in all phases of the system development life cycle.
  • Translate requirements into workable tasks and oversee the development of proposed solutions to meet business needs.
  • Support multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven process.
  • Build and manage client relationships, negotiate Service Level Agreements with customers, and design services with agreed Service Level targets.
  • Have PMI project management type certification(s) and strong experience with best practice software development methodologies and frameworks.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's with 2-5 years (or commensurate experience) IT project management experience.
  • Full knowledge of the job.
  • Moderate understanding of the general aspects of the job and its application.
  • Provides solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.
  • Contributes to the completion of milestones associated with specific projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working projects in technical IT large scale data center operations environment such as mass data storage (HP, Hitachi, EMC, etc.), event monitoring and management, library based backups (HP, Quantum, IBM, etc.), large blade server implementations (HP, Dell, Cisco, etc.) running VMware.
  • Must have worked in and have a solid understanding of highly technical data center environments and equipment, be able to communicate and work with IT professionals doing systems engineering and administration in these environments.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project and Microsoft Excel software.
  • Experience developing project management standards, ensuring project management procedures are followed, and completing project documents.
  • Experience overseeing, coordinating, and monitoring IT projects, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and as planned.
  • Experience preparing formal written technical content for the creation, development, implementation, and management of projects.
  • Formal training in project management methodologies.
  • Experience delivering well-organized briefings or presentations on all aspects of a project to clients and management officials.
  • Experience analyzing technical and business processes in assigned areas of responsibility, identifying opportunities for improvement, generating and evaluating alternatives, and making recommendations to management.
  • Experience configuring and overseeing the installation of required project management tools and technologies.
  • Formal training in technical writing.
