SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The Inventory Specialist is responsible for assisting the Inventory Control Manager in all aspects of inventory transactions including receiving, cycle counts, pick lists for job materials and shipping.

ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follow all company safety and quality requirements.
  • Work with shop personnel on inventory levels of consumables and shop supplies.
  • Assist ICM in developing and coordinating minimum and maximum inventory levels and usage.
  • Identify damaged, obsolete and slow-moving inventory items.
  • Identify and resolve inventory discrepancies when necessary.
  • Responsible for physical organization and storage of inventory.
  • Responsible for the receiving of materials, both physically and through system processes.
  • Inspect incoming materials and notify appropriate personnel of non-conformances.
  • Will assist production with immediate inventory needs when necessary.
  • Will assist material handlers in purchase order pickups and drop offs at customer sites and outside services when needed.
  • Perform cycle counts when necessary in accordance with company policy.
  • Must have regular communication with other divisions of TrueNorth Steel.
  • Performing inventory transactions in Company ERP and TEKLA systems.
  • Willing to work flexible hours and overtime or weekends as needed.
  • Prompt and dependable attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Strong systems background.
  • Demonstrated knowledge with Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced, deadline-oriented atmosphere.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Technical School degree or equivalent experience.
  • One to three years manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience in inventory control preferred
