Summary

Position Summary
The Health Services Data Analyst is responsible for providing complex data extraction, data analysis, data manipulation and report generation, as needed for various departments within Maine Behavioral Healthcare and its members. The Health Services Data Analyst will use their technical expertise to cull data through advanced computerized models; then, extrapolate data patterns. This process is broken up into four general steps. "Data Cleaning" roots out erroneous data; "Initial Analysis" assesses the quality of the data; "Main Data Analysis" determines the meaning of the data; the "Final Analysis" provides additional screening. Each of these steps requires a unique skill set, involving statistical mathematics and computer software, and the qualified data analyst will understand all of the statistics and algorithms that are used to predict the meaning of the data. The Health Services Data Analyst will work closely with the Financial Analyst to help support the financial and business modeling of Maine Behavioral Healthcare and its members.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • License/Certifications: N/A
  • Experience: 5+ years of work experience in data analysis and reporting required. 5+ years of experience running and designing complex reports required. Experience using Access, SQL or Crystal Reports, in a healthcare environment preferred.
  • Intermediate-advanced level of proficiency in MS Access and MS Excel required
  • Must have strong analytical skills to analyze, interpret data, and prepare meaningful reports
  • Must have the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Must have excellent customer service skills and commitment to excellence
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Must be able to work independently, yet be a team player
