Business Data Analyst Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Business Data Analyst to join our team at Arkatechture. As a Business Data Analyst, you will play a critical role in supporting Business Intelligence and Data warehousing initiatives focused on our Financial Services clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain complex SQL views and stored procedures to support business intelligence and data warehousing initiatives.
  • Analyze and interpret large datasets to identify trends and patterns, and develop data-driven insights to inform business decisions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement data solutions that meet business needs.
  • Develop and maintain data dictionaries, critical data element identification and classification, data lineage, and data quality rules.
  • Identify and analyze data quality issues and develop data cleansing and data quality assessment strategies.
  • Develop and maintain data warehouses, data collection systems, data analytics, and other strategies that optimize business intelligence and analytical efficiency and quality.
  • Build reference data for hierarchies, lookups, and grouping purposes.
  • Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and develop and maintain data quality rules.
  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
  • Filter and clean data by reviewing reports and key performance indicators to locate and correct code problems.
  • Test using SQL and provide development sign off.
  • Mentor and review SQL code and deliverables of junior and mid-level Data Analysts.
  • Locate and define new process improvement opportunities.
  • Document processes and workflows.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field or 2-5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Expert in complex SQL syntax.
  • Domain expertise in Financial Services working with Banks and/or Credit Unions focused on Credit Card portfolios and specifically Retail Card Services on TSYS.
  • Enthusiastic, learner, and driven with a positive attitude.
  • Strong critical and analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working on multiple databases such as Snowflake, SQL Server, Databricks, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.
  • A strong understanding of Agile software development life cycle and methodology.
  • Experience working on Data Management projects for Data Lakes/Data Warehousing.
  • Experience driving and growing client interaction as part of sales support and project delivery.
Preferred Experience:
  • 2+ years as a Subject Matter Expert in Financial Services, especially Credit Card in general and Retail Card Services on TSYS specifically.
  • Proactively identifies and tracks project risk and develops mitigation plans to manage risk.
  • Provides ongoing communication to key stakeholders, including the Project Sponsor, Business Project Owner, Program Manager, and Portfolio Manager to ensure they are aware of significant changes to the project status in a timely manner.
  • Develops, monitors, and tracks project plans throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Monitors and controls the work related to each deliverable.
  • Understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP.
  • Experience developing and implementing dbt models.
