What The Role Is

Leave Administration Specialist is responsible for performing leave administration functions that supports our Corporate Benefits operations. The expectation of this role requires a Leave Administration professional with experience in the administration, interpretation, execution, and process documentation of all leave requests, including required Federal and State leaves. The Leave Specialist will assist internal Business Partners with worker's compensation claims and ADA accommodations.

How You will Make an Impact

  • Process incoming calls, emails and system notifications regarding leaves of absence, while providing prompt accurate service
  • Responsible for utilizing the tools provided to maintain compliance with federal, state, local and union specific leave policies
  • Coach employees, managers and HR Business Partners on the appropriate web-based processes, legal requirements and policy regarding leaves
  • Provide employees/managers with information and assistance regarding potential leaves
  • Produce and track all required documentation
  • Assess, adjudicate, and track all FMLA claims and available time
  • Interpret and process what is a complete and sufficient medical certification for leave and ADA
  • Update employee records in the HR/Payroll system as appropriate
  • Escalate issues to the proper management resources as appropriate
  • Provide critical thinking regarding absence management processes. Identify trends and make recommendations for continuous process improvements to management
Who You Are
  • Knowledge of leave requirements and laws at the Federal level, specific to FMLA, and at the various nationwide State and Local levels.
  • Knowledge of protections offered under ADA with and without coordination to leaves.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft and/or Google applications including expert status in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
  • Effective and professional communicator, both verbal and written, for large groups as well as one-on-one
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment, managing a variety of tasks simultaneously with efficiency, a large and diversified workload, and challenging situations
  • Must be detail-oriented and possess strong time management skills
  • Knowledge of multi-state laws and regulations related to health & welfare and leave
  • Solid investigative and analytical skills sufficient to resolve problems and employee concerns
Education
  • College Degree from an accredited college or university, Human Resources or Business preferred
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred
  • LeaveLink and ADALink software experience
Experience
  • Two years’ experience in HR and/or benefits and leave administration
Characteristics
  • Regular and reliable attendance
  • Works cooperatively with others
