Job Description

DESCRIPTION:

Implement employee life cycle management and relations, procedures and programs. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty to the best of the individuals' abilities and to the level that is at a minimum satisfactory.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists department in carrying out various human resources programs and procedures for all company employees.
  • Assists in administration of compensation program; helps to monitor performance appraisal process.
  • Participates in benefits administration to include claim resolution, change reporting, and approving invoices for payment.
  • Participates in recruitment effort for exempt and nonexempt personnel (excluding managerial levels and above); and helps to coordinate the use of temporary employees.
  • Conducts new employee orientations; administers pre-employment tests, conducts reference checks; build employee files.
  • Files EEO-1 report annually; maintains other records, reports, and logs pertaining to applicant flow procedures.
  • Assists in exit interview process.
  • Assists in organizational training and development efforts.
  • Maintains Human Resource Information System records and complies reports from database as needed.
  • Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.
  • Helps to maintain company organization charts and employee directory.
Other Collateral Duties: Perform other duties as directed by the HR Director.

Job Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and/or Experience:
  • An AA degree in Business, Human Resources or a related field and 1 - 2 years HR experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience demonstrating the ability to fulfill the essential duties and responsibilities of the job.
Language Skills:
  • Must have excellent verbal and written command of the English language, with the ability to read and
  • comprehend written correspondence.
  • Ability to write business correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in a one-on-one or small group situation to other employees of the organization.
Other Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must be even-tempered and work well with others; have excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must be willing to cross train into all HR disciplines (i.e. acquire knowledge of employee benefits programs, pension plans, vacation, sick leave, and leave of absence).
  • Must be able to adhere to strict confidentiality.
  • Maintain regular office hours and adhere to company's attendance policies; be available to work outside of regular working hours when operational necessity demands it; be available to travel in and outside of Alaska.
  • Willing to learn and maintain knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting is in compliance.
Physical Demands:
  • Regularly required to sit, walk and stand; talk and hear; use hands repetitively to finger, handle, feel or operation standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
