ABOUT LAUREL HILL CENTER

Established in 1972, we are committed to helping people with psychiatric disabilities make choices and acquire skills that increase their self-reliance and ability to live and work in the community. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A RELIEF PEER SUPPORT SPECIALIST

In this peer support position, you provide individual and group services to individuals who need support to effectively manage mental health symptoms. You focus on assisting others with implementing coping skills, developing social supports, and assist in the removal of barriers to personal recovery goals. Because a sense of belonging is essential for individuals to be able to work towards other goals, that is always your priority.

You assist clients by modeling coping or self-soothing strategies, developing recovery action plans, learning independent living skills, and accessing community resources. Conscientiously, you support each client's progress towards their own personal recovery goals. Making a difference one life at a time fills you with a deep sense of satisfaction, which is why you're perfect in this social services role
