Role:

Lead the Business Intelligence team, ensure centralized data repository and non-vendor application data is maintained and accurate, and corporate KPIs are timely and accurate.  Create a team culture that fosters partnering with business stakeholders with a keen focus on maximizing business decision capability while simultaneously minimizing data / report replication.  Collaborate with other Analytics functions to facilitate analytical capabilities and increase modeling capabilities to provide better insights into Just Energy’s profitability.  This position reports to the Vice President, Data and Analytics.

Requirements:

Ability to successfully work with cross-functional teams.  Ability to navigate system architectures, cloud services (AWS and Azure), maximize data solutions (balancing cost vs capability), and seamlessly coordinate with existing IT infrastructure.  Your initiative and competitive drive coupled with the ability to stay focused on results despite changing conditions.  Innovation and creatively generating ideas while constantly problem solving.

Responsibilities:

  • Development of data governance and the alignment of the business on metrics definition and maintenance of the quality frameworks
  •          Lead the data engineering, business intelligence, data science and analytics team on evolving the data infrastructure, implementing reporting solutions, and running data projects
  •          Act as the primary data liaison between sales, finance, operations, customer care and other departments
  •          Drive cross-functional alignment and interface directly with leadership to elevate transparency across the organizations and to define and build data-informed business strategy and roadmaps
  •          Build and maintain the central enterprise data platform
  •          Lead the design and construction of corporate reports/dashboards for various stakeholders
  •          Ensure data quality of all data and reports
  •          Develop and maintain industry best practices for business intelligence tools and data analytics that will transform raw data from numerous sources into actionable decision insights
  •          Develop, mentor, and lead staff to foster an environment of teamwork and accountability
  •          Develop department operating budgets and forecasts
  •          Develop department capital budgets and forecast
  •          Ensure team is structured and resourced to meet service delivery objectives
  •          Manage vendor relationships and contracts
  •          Fulfilling such duties and responsibilities and comply with such Company rules and policies as the Company may designate from time to time and as are consistent with your Position
  •          Using your best efforts to promote the interests of the Company
  •          In the exercise of your powers and in the discharge of your duties, faithfully, honestly, and diligently serving the Company with a view to the best interests of the Company and exercising the care, diligence, and skill that a reasonably prudent person would exercise in comparable circumstances

Qualifications:

  • University degree in a quantitative or technical discipline such as Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, or Statistics
  •           Advanced degree preferred
  •          10 years of experience in Data and / or Application management
  •          7 years managerial experience
  •          Some experience in electricity and / or natural gas markets preferred
  •          Demonstrable history of developing successful teams
  •          Exhibit professionalism and lead by example
  •          Well-spoken and a clear communicator with a demonstrated ability to communicate complicated concepts and ideas in a clear, concise manner
