Medical Office Assistant: also known as a Medical Secretary, plays a crucial role in managing administrative and clerical tasks at a medical clinic or private healthcare practice. Here are some typical responsibilities for a Medical Office Assistant:

  1. Front Office Duties:

    • Greeting Patients: Welcoming patients, answering their questions, and assisting with required forms.
    • Appointment Scheduling: Handling phone calls, creating appointments, and directing inquiries.
    • Appointment Coordination: Informing doctors, nurses, or other healthcare staff about upcoming appointments.
    • Document Management: Maintaining a filing system for patient documents and reports.
    • Electronic Communication: Responding to emails and other electronic messages.
    • Billing and Insurance: Creating invoices, processing insurance forms, and managing vendors.
  2. Back Office Duties:

    • Rooming Patients: Assisting patients in examination rooms.
    • Cleaning and Sterilization: Cleaning rooms, sterilizing instruments, and assembling surgical trays.

Qualifications:

  • Medical Assistant Certificate
  • Current BLS/CPR issued by the AHA
  • Must be able to pass a background and drug screen
