Halifax Health is seeking a Transplant Data Coordinator for the Transplant Services Department.
SummaryThe Data Coordinator plays an integral role in maintaining the transplant center's regulatory compliance as well as assuring patient safety through accurate data entry and verification. The Data Coordinator will be primarily responsible for coordinating data entry, data verification and analysis for health system staff, transplant center staff, regulatory bodies and other organizations. The Data Coordinator is also a key member of the transplant center selection committee via ensuring that highly important and sensitive data is accurate and available. The Data Coordinator serves as the medical records officer for the transplant center.
Job Qualifications-
Bachelor’s degree preferred in health care administration, business, clinical or technical area.

A minimum of three years of experience as a data coordinator for a transplant center may replace the education requirement.

Data entry experience is required.

Data coordination, including database management and analysis experience preferred.

Healthcare experience preferred.

The candidate must be highly computer proficient including intermediary Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Excel skills.

Meditech Client Server skills highly desired.

The candidate must be able to communicate effectively.

The candidate must be able to multi-task and prioritize work appropriately.

The candidate must be able to work with well with a multi-disciplinary transplant team.
- Enters timely and accurate data into U-Net and ensures that the transplant center is compliant with OPTN/UNOS requirements for data entry. Data is verified for completeness and accuracy. The Data is entered within the UNOS mandated timeframes and in accordance with the Center for Transplant Services policies. This includes all required forms per organ.
- Reviews and updates data policies annually. Makes certain that all data policies are consistent with any existing Halifax Policies.
- Maintains patient tracking data in the Center for Transplant Services internal database including data on selection committee spreadsheets. The data is accurately entered and updated. Spreadsheets, tables and graphs are prepared accurately and are professional in appearance. This includes all selection committee data. Specifically, this includes referred patient data, evaluated patient data, and wait-listed patient data.
- Serves as the medical records officer for the Center for Transplant Services. Ensures that the Center for Transplant Services is in compliance with Halifax, CMS, and Joint Commission requirements for medical record structure and content.
- Serves as the Center for Transplant Services shared drive coordinator. Ensures that the contents of the shared drive are maintained including volume, structure, and file naming conventions.
- Prepares the FMQAI data reports in accordance with policy. Generates FMQAI data monthly and semiannually reports.
- Participates in performance improvement initiatives. Generates and analyzes data for performance improvement purposes. Provides feedback mechanisms for performance improvement based on analysis.
- Reviews the draft SRTR outcome reports prior to publication with transplant management. Effectively communicates any corrections in a timely manner. Communicates any issues with data outliers or trends with the Operations Coordinator in a timely manner.
- Maintains any data required by the transplant department.
- Maintains all other required logs per established policies.
- Provides on-demand reporting to transplant center staff, the health system staff, regulatory bodies, and FMQAI requests.
- Promotes and facilitates the development and identification of existing support systems necessary for improving patient care services.
- Attends Selection Committee Meetings
- Backs-up the transplant secretary and registrar when necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
