Position Objective:

1. Clinical Decision Making/Judgment

  • Exhibit strong clinical nursing skills specifically suited for our unit.
  • Effectively apply the nursing process in caring for a diverse range of patients and families.
  • Adapt patient care activities in response to changes in patient condition or environment.
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments to identify needs and preferences based on established standards.
  • Create individualized care plans that are aligned with patient-specific needs and goals.
  • Efficiently implement care plans following organizational policies and procedures.
  • Show proficiency in administering medications and managing pain effectively.
  • Continuously assess and adjust care plans according to patient responses.

2. Nurse-Patient Family Relationships

  • Assess patients and families to understand their learning needs and readiness.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate education plans for patient populations within the unit.
  • Utilize knowledge of growth and development to cater to patients' varied life stages.
  • Deliver direct patient care while respecting cultural and ethical diversity.
  • Ensure care plans comprehensively address physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs.

3. Clinical Scholarship

  • Engage in quality improvement and risk management initiatives at various organizational levels.
  • Contribute to enhancing processes to meet or exceed quality benchmarks.
  • Support the use of evidence-based practices to ensure safe patient care.

4. Clinical Leadership

  • Participate in shared governance initiatives within the unit.
  • Assist in the orientation and training of new staff members.
  • Delegate patient care tasks responsibly and review outcomes.
  • Utilize real-time documentation to maintain accurate patient records.

Educational/Experience Requirements:

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
  • Comply with the credentialing requirements as stated in nursing bylaws.

Required License/Certifications:

  • Current Maryland Board of Nursing registered nurse license.
  • CPR certification from the American Heart Association for Healthcare Providers.

Working Conditions, Equipment, Physical Demands:

Employees in this role may have exposure to blood-borne pathogens.

Physical Demands: This position requires medium work, with the ability to exert up to 50 pounds occasionally, 30 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds continuously to move objects.
