We have an immediate opening for a Senior Pharmacy Technician (Full-time) in the Iowa City area.
This position is a day shift position with NO weekends.

Position Summary
Under general supervision of a pharmacist, performs activities associated with day-to-day operation of Home Infusion Pharmacy, including monitoring compliance, training, inventory control and special projects as assigned.
Position Responsibilities
- Coordinates daily functions of pharmacy technicians to meet needs as identified by a pharmacist.
- Provides supervision to pharmacy technicians and scheduling as required.
- Coordinates the work area in the absence of the pharmacist.
- Monitor and keep documentation to ensure compliance with USP 797 and USP 800.
- Provides initial and ongoing staff training for aseptic technique in compliance with USP 797 and USP 800, conducting skills assessment as required by standards.
- Collect and evaluate data related to aseptic technique competence of pharmacists and technicians.
- Collect and evaluate data related to clean room cleaning activities, equipment, refrigerators, and incubator.
- Testing as required and maintaining documentation.
- Serve as the UICH designated person to ensure compliance with USP 800.
- Participate in inventory management activities.
- Orders medications and supplies.
- Assists with medication recalls and shortages.
- Work with Pharmacist in charge to maintain/update policies and procedures and SOPs, and implementation of new programs and services.
- Monitors and maintains documentation of clean room and compounding equipment.
- Maintains competency and performs all duties and responsibilities of a Certified Pharmacy Technician.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Eligibility Requirements
- High school graduation including a general mathematics course, or the equivalent.
- Four years of experience as a pharmacy technician including at least one year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician (Certified) or equivalent position, or
- Four years of experience in a position directly related to the natural sciences, or
- Four years post high school education in the natural sciences or related area, or years post high school education in the natural sciences or related area, or
- A combination of related experience and related post high school education to equal four years.
- National certification as a certified pharmacy technician by a National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) accredited pharmacy technician certification program and examination is required. Must meet ongoing education requirements and maintain certification. An exception to the certification requirement is available to pharmacy interns who maintain registration as a pharmacy intern (per Iowa Administrative Code - Chapter 3, Pharmacy Technicians, Section 3.3) and have six months of experience as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee.
Note: Per Board of Pharmacy Regulations (Iowa Administrative Code -- 657-Chapter 3, Pharmacy Technicians):
1. A pharmacy technician must register with the Board of Pharmacy within 30 days of employment.
2. Effective July 1, 2009, all pharmacy technicians must be certified by July 1, 2010.
- Ability to lift 30lbs (2) times in a row from the floor to counter height.
- Push/Pull 80lbs on a cart.
