NuCara LTC is a leading long-term care pharmacy in Iowa City, IA, specializing in medication packaging and distribution to nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and group homes in Eastern Iowa.

We are seeking a full-time certified pharmacy technician to join our healthcare team. As a pharmacy technician, you will work under the direction of a pharmacist and be responsible for medications and medical materials in the pharmacy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Enter prescription orders into the computer system
  • Create patient profiles and update health and insurance information
  • Assist pharmacists with technical functions, including measuring, counting, labeling, and record-keeping
  • Communicate with patients, healthcare professionals, and insurance carriers
  • Prepare and package medications for dispensing
  • Compound oral solutions, ointments, and creams
  • Prepackage bulk medications and fill bottles with prescribed medications
  • Price and file prescriptions
  • Operate office machines and maintain equipment and work areas
Requirements:
  • Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification preferred
  • Ability to pass pharmacy technician certification test within a year of hire date
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
