JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a proactive Test Lab Technician who can safely test and evaluate cutting-edge electrical systems, motors, inverters, sensors, and related components. This person will assemble tools, develop innovative procedures, maintain detailed test plans, and create insightful failure reports. There are opportunities for travel and engaging with internal and external customers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Set a positive example of performance, responsibility, tact and professionalism.
  • Work in a safe manner 100% of the time.
  • Advocates for testing/validation of new technologies, ideas, and practices.
  • Test and evaluate electrical systems, perform static and dynamic testing of electrical motors both asynchronous and synchronous, as well as other related components. (Inverters, Sensors, Data loggers)
  • Assemble or otherwise produce designed tools, fixtures, and enhancements.
  • Research and develop new procedures and create formal documentation.
  • Make suggestions regarding safety and automation advancement opportunities (though benchmarking and networking with other industry professionals) to increase protection and lab up-time. Automate testing and data acquisition.
  • Maintain detailed test plans and schedules while supporting multiple projects.
  • Support equipment preventative maintenance schedule and calibration efforts as needed
  • Participate in service activities to customers
  • Conduct mechanical & electrical calculations, read and interpret motor manuals, read and interpret electrical and pinout drawings.
  • Create professional failure evaluation reports
  • Communication: email, phone, and interpersonal communication etiquette: Professional at all times.
  • Open to sharing the lab with visitors and customers, creating a welcoming environment for learning/sharing information.
  • Collaborate with marketing and other departments to deploy new knowledge and best practices to relevant stakeholders throughout the company.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly 6S environment. Ownership of the lab as a showroom for the company and its capabilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. Job duties are subject to change as directed by management.
  • Knowledge of all product lines, their specifications, components, and assembly
  • Develop educational trainings based on testing conducted: Application Replication, Product Testing Verification, Competitor Evaluations, etc...
  • Submit budget requests for tooling, testing equipment, lab upgrades and drive ROI on testing outcomes.
  • Assist Product Management with tasks
  • Domestic and international travel required (up to 10%), some training may take place in Germany.
Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • BS in Technology/Engineering/Mechatronics/Computer Science preferred but not required.
  • Experience with gearboxes, motors, motion controllers, electronics, and other relevant hardware a plus.
  • Experience with monitoring/measuring equipment and data collection is a plus.
  • Versed in project management and timeline/goal setting.
PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and reasoning abilities.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Interpersonal skills. Excellent ability to get along with many diverse personalities in challenging situations, while maintaining a courteous, professional demeanor.

  • Results oriented with a high level of initiative.

GENERAL: Individuals in this position are expected to perform daily functions with little supervision. Matters that do require direct supervision should be of a nature that requires the decision making or authority of higher level management.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Required to talk and hear, sit, specific vision abilities are required specifically the ability to use a computer screen for an extensive part of the day.
