The ideal candidate for the Logistics Optimization Engineer role will excel in the technical facets of the position while also engaging with clients and managing projects to enhance our extensive distribution network. This individual will leverage their expertise in engineering solutions to develop efficient distribution center designs, assess productivity metrics, create pricing frameworks, and refine operational strategies within our facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates and supports the design, assessment, planning, integration, testing, and completion of engineering initiatives.
  • Generates pricing projections for prospective business ventures.
  • Identifies optimal methods for utilizing capital, equipment, energy, facilities, information, materials, personnel, and other resources to deliver products or services.
  • Strategizes the use of facilities, equipment, materials, and workforce to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Analyzes products or services and their requirements using quantitative methods such as operations research to fulfill those needs and develop manufacturing and information systems.
  • Evaluates functional statements, organizational structures, and project details to clarify roles and responsibilities of personnel and work units, identifying areas for redundancy reduction.
  • Suggests innovative automated warehousing solutions to boost productivity and enhance throughput.
  • Examines storage solutions and material handling procedures, recommending optimal strategies to maximize efficiency.
  • Enhances warehouse operations by refining storage strategies and zoning.
  • Conducts Return on Investment (ROI) assessments to validate capital expenditure proposals.
  • Designs and develops warehouse layouts for both new and existing facilities utilizing AutoCAD.
  • Collaborates with external vendors to execute capital projects.
  • Creates and integrates targeted solutions in partnership with clients and operations management.
  • Reviews current processes and identifies opportunities for enhancement.
  • Develops workflow plans.
  • Performs time studies.
  • Calculates productivity metrics.
  • Continuously reassesses work processes for potential productivity gains.
  • Adheres to corporate and site-specific Good Manufacturing Practices and reports any noncompliance.
  • Follows all company safety protocols and assists in their enforcement as necessary.
  • Undertakes additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a warehouse setting.
  • Familiarity with secondary packaging is advantageous.
  • Proficient in Advanced Excel and data analytics tools such as SQL, Power BI, or Tableau.
  • Understanding of quality and safety principles.
  • Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and production management systems.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
