Requirement: Staff Accountant

Job Description:

Forge is seeking an Accounting professional to join our growing corporate operations team. Reporting to Executive Leadership, this position is responsible for ensuring that the business's financial accounting activities are performed accurately and in compliance with GAAP and relevant government contracting compliance regulations. This role will help shape the internal accounting function to scale with continued business growth.

The Candidate must be able to think strategically, act tactically, and display strong analytical and critical thinking skills. They must also build strong cross-group working relationships and demonstrate exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. The Candidate must be able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities.

Key Responsibilities: The Accounting Team is responsible for managing all financial accounting and government cost accounting activities for Forge. The primary responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Process monthly accounting transactions in accordance with corporate guidelines, ensuring data accuracy and compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Prepare and record journal entries for accounts payable, payroll, and the general ledger, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Conduct reconciliations against supporting schedules, such as prepaid expenses, deferred revenue, and depreciation/amortization schedules.
  • Perform monthly credit card reconciliations to ensure alignment with financial records.
  • Support the monthly accounting close process, including preparing and reviewing financial reports.
  • Present financial results and proposed solutions clearly and concisely, tailored to the appropriate audience.
  • Set up new vendors, clients, employees, and projects in Unanet.
  • Process ACH vendor payments as required, ensuring timely and accurate transactions.
  • Prepare limited business property tax filings for applicable states, ensuring compliance with local regulations.
  • Assist accounts receivable staff with invoicing, expense report reconciliations and reviews, and related tasks.
  • Review and manage subcontractor invoices, ensuring timely approval, accuracy, and compliance with contract terms before processing payments.
  • Review and manage employee timesheets, ensuring accurate time tracking, compliance with contract requirements, and timely updates in the financial system.
  • Implement, document, and maintain effective internal control policies and procedures, ensuring adequate safeguards are in place.
  • Drive process improvements to enhance the efficiency, timeliness, and accuracy of the month-end close and financial reporting cycles.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and standards (GAAP, FAR, CAS, SBA 8(a), tax, etc.).
  • Assist with external audits, regulatory filings, year-end financial audits, and tax preparation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Provide finance-based support, training, and process guidance for employees, addressing their accounting-related questions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the finance team.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • US Citizen
  • A minimum of 3 (or more) years of direct experience in GovCon accounting
  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university is required.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP regulations
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills. Demonstrated experience with Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines.
  • Self-starter who takes ownership to identify and solve problems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

Highly Desired Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of FAR, CAS, and SBA regulations
  • Experience with Unanet and/or Payroll Network/iSolved is a plus.
