REVOLT Media & TV creates and curates the best in hip-hop culture and engages youth in social conversation – on-air, on-line, and on-demand. This unapologetically hip-hop, multi-platform network offers original and acquired programming for linear and digital platforms as well as live events and activations across the country.

The Development Executive will curate and develop a canon of unparalleled unscripted stories from the Black diaspora. Collaborate with eminent voices from Black culture, unearth hidden gems from literature and art, and transform cultural ideas into groundbreaking content for linear and multi-platform properties (e.g. video streaming services, digital and social verticals, mobile app and podcast/audio services). You will work with creative talent from across industries to develop breakthrough content and engage new talent on an opportunistic basis. Passion for storytelling and deep knowledge of the Black diaspora required.

What You’ll Do:
• Lead conceptualization, development, and launch of culture and life style non-scripted content slates and plans that aligns with REVOLT’s growth strategy for all our multi-platform properties, starting with a REVOLT Sports and Women centric slate.
• Develop short and long form original content reflective of REVOLT’s brand and vision which will significantly expand our reach and influence across the US and internationally.
• Identify and evaluate strategic content and serve as a thought-leader on new and innovative ways to reach and connect with our viewers.
• Work with executive team members to create and execute a roadmap for strategic partnerships with media companies and influencers (e.g. studios, digital publishers, talent, etc.) that advance REVOLT’s mission and impact.
• Oversee development and editorial of multiple projects simultaneously from pitch to pilot including field pitches from producers, review sizzles, treatments and other materials for consideration.
• Co-lead the annual REVOLT Word planning in ideation; develop programming slate including panel programming elements, events and talent.
• Build a team of unscripted content creators for our multi-platform properties which will establish REVOLT as a prolific source of culture and entertainment content for Black and underserved communities.
• Establish internal processes and procedures that create synergies and efficiencies cross-functionally.
• Develop and nurture relationships with a community of writers, directors, producers, and third party production companies.
• Monitor and keep abreast of the competitive landscape.

What You Bring:
• 10+ years’ experience developing, launching and overseeing unscripted content for linear and digital multi-platform properties.
• Consumer centric vision to help elevate and showcase Black and underserved community voices and perspectives that engages REVOLT’s audiences in a compelling manner.
• Keen understanding of REVOLT’s target consumers (demographic and psychographic), including a deep appreciation of what is important to and what drives/motivates these consumers, along with how these consumers utilize a wide range of linear and digital media.
• Thrive in a fast-paced environment; champion an innovative, collaborative, and diverse culture that promotes idea generation, open communication, and respect for others.
• A forward-thinking creative leader with the demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate teams to develop engaging and compelling content for multiple platforms.
• Prior experience at a stand-alone, start up or early stage media company a plus; embraces change, and new technology.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including exceptional presentation skills.
• Excellent reputation in the media industry with strong industry contacts, partnerships and network of resources.
