Medical Records Specialist

The mission of the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless is to work collaboratively toward the prevention of homelessness and the creation of lasting solutions for homeless and at-risk families, children, and individuals throughout Colorado. The Coalition advocates for and provides a continuum of housing and a variety of services to improve the health, well-being, and stability of those it serves.
The Medical Records Specialist will be responsible for operational support within the Health Information Management Department while following the applicable policies and procedures established by the CCH Board of Directors and Management staff.

The effective date for your benefits will be the first of the month following your date of hire.
- Maintain medical records that meet grantor requirements, quality assurance standards, and legislative and regulatory requirements including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
- Perform medical records intake standard operating procedures including data entry of documentation into the electronic health record (EHR) system (NextGen).
- Fulfill requests for disclosures of protected health information (PHI) to authorized individuals and other third parties in a compliant and secure manner.
- Conduct documentation audits and routine EHR data entry maintenance to ensure the quality, completeness, and accuracy of medical records management processes including the correction of any identified errors.
- Support the medical records management lifecycle including secure archival and disposal of all medical records in accordance with retention and destruction guidelines.
- Demonstrate administrative and technical competency with the EHR system capabilities.
- Attend department and committee meetings as required.

- High school diploma or GED required; associate's or bachelor's degree in related field of study or equivalent experience preferred.
- Minimum two years of administrative experience, preferably in the nonprofit sector.
$20.64 - $24.28 an hour
