Job Description:
  • GTT is seeking several skilled Data Center Electrical technicians to join our team and contribute to the successful commissioning and turnover of equipment for 9 large data center projects all over the US.
  • These roles are 12-month contract assignments with the option to extend beyond the initial assignment length.
  • The successful candidates will be responsible for completing commissioning scripts, quality checks, and ensuring equipment compliance with medium voltage and de-energized equipment.
  • The primary goal is to commission and turn over equipment to large data center customers, ensuring compliance and quality standards are met.
  • You will play a crucial role in completing commissioning scripts and performing quality checks.
  • This position requires adherence to site-specific safety plans.
  • This position also requires candidates to participate in equipment and safety training for three-to-four weeks in either Houston, TX, or Warrendale, PA over the first 8-weeks of the engagement start date.
  • All travel expenses will be reimbursed.

Duties:
  • Perform commissioning, inspection, verification, and QA/QC activities on low and medium-voltage switchgear assemblies, circuit breakers, transformers, protective relays, and automatic transfer switches at data center construction sites.
  • Read and interpret electrical control schematics and diagrams; verify drawings and equipment layouts.
  • Document services by maintaining records and writing technical reports detailing fieldwork performed.
  • Complete functional tests for manual and electrically operated circuit protection devices, including local and remote breaker controls.
  • Verify control circuit continuity, power monitoring component functionality, protective relay and/or trip unit settings, and electrical sequence of operations.

Physical Requirements:
  • Safety mindset and experience.
  • You will review/use drawings, shop orders, and detailed work instructions.
  • You will use various types of gages, instruments, and measuring devices.
  • Physically able to climb ladders & stairs and lift and carry 50 lbs. for limited durations.

Deliverables:
  • Complete Level 2 and Level 3 commissioning scripts and checklists.
  • Ensure all checklists are finalized prior to completing each Level.
  • Daily and Weekly checklist completion and site reporting.

Must-Have Skill Set Requirements:
  • Understands 3-phase power systems and low, medium, and high voltage power distribution equipment.
  • Experience with Level 1 and Level 2 data center commissioning.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identity).

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Qualified Electrical Worker training per NFPA 70E from a previous employer.
  • NETA Level II, III, IV Certification or NICET equivalent achieved within the past five years.

Training:
  • Over the first 8 weeks of the engagement, each resource will participate in 5 weeks of training.
  • Initial 2-week safety training course in Houston, TX, or Warrendale, PA.
  • Secondary site-specific training requirements (typically 1-day orientation).
