Program Description:An Applied Behavior Analysis program at Catholic Charities provides intensive services including a Day Program model which serves children aged 2-5 with an Autism Spectrum Disorder in a comprehensive clinic-based model, group services, and early intervention model. A Positive Behavior Support framework is used to develop tailored services and treatment plans to meet individual children and families’ needs.
The services will include; Functional Behavioral Assessment and treatment planning for children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), providing Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) services, parent training, and a conducting a therapeutic day program.
Position Summary:This Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) - Lead is responsible for the implementation of services for children with a diagnosis of ASD from a Center of Excellence by using ABA principles including functional behavioral assessments, creating individualized treatment plans, as well as supervising Behavior Technicians who are providing one-to-one services based in the Day Program. This position is supervised by the ABA Program Manager and works collaboratively with Speech Language Pathologist, BCBA interns and other allied specialists providing services for children with ASD. He or she is also responsible for parent training and successfully transitioning the child into the home and school environment.
Responsibilities:Provide ABA Services within the Day Program and meet program, funding, and HIPAA requirements.
- Ensure assessments and treatment plans are submitted and approved by the Managed Care Organization (MCO) or other funding entities.
- Observe confidentiality and compliance with HIPPA Standards in all aspects related to program, staff, and families.
- Report any suspected child abuse or neglect according to policies.
Implement best practices for ABA services using a Positive Behavior Support framework to address disruptive behavior and embed early, intensive behavior interventions in developmentally appropriate context.
- Complete and document Functional Behavior Assessment which includes: direct face-to-face assessment, records review and observation of client in the home, school, or appropriate community setting when warranted.
- Develop, with family input, a specific, individualized, time-limited treatment plan which includes: service type, family engagement/training goals, child behaviors with targeted outcomes, safety plan, description of measurable treatment interventions to each behavior to be accomplished in the 12-week day program and strategies for generalization of skills at home and school.
- Implement services in a multi-disciplinary, child-centered, family-focused, community based, culturally competent and minimally intrusive manner.
- Ensure treatment is implemented in a coordinated manner with consideration of school and community resources available, with evidence that the requested services are not redundant to other service provided.
- Coordinate a plan for treatment and transition (e.g., special education, speech, occupational therapy, physical therapy, family counseling, and medication management).
- Ensure the plan includes measurable discharge criteria and discharge plan as appropriate.
- Ensure the treatment plan is signed by the client/family and reviewed at least every 180 days and resubmitted for approval with the MCO or funding entity.
Document all assessments, treatment plans, case notes, behavior data and services provided according to policies.
- Complete document Functional Behavior Assessment in all developmental areas and treatment plan in the Electronic Health Care record. Ensure all required billing data is entered daily for each child with appropriate codes.
- Ensure all data is systemically collected and recorded for each child to measure progress and placed in the clinical chart. Graph data or display visual as need to continually assess progress on targeted behaviors and goals.
- Document all multi-disciplinary team meetings or collateral contacts in clinical record.
- Record discharge plan and summary.
Provide direct ABA Services to children and their families
- Implement interventions to target each child’s individual needs across all developmental domains (cognitive, language/communication, social, play, motor, and behavior).
- Refer child and family for home-based, center-based, or therapeutic classroom services as appropriate for the identified needs.
- Ensure all treatment methodologies are evidenced-based and reflect best practice.
- Train and collaborate with families in the development and implementation of positive behavior support strategies
Coordinate interventions with parents and team of allied service providers (speech and language, OT, PT, Psychiatric, and others)
- Collaborate with parents on interventions that can be implemented in the home environment for skill-based training which will decrease behavior problems, teach specific skills and maximize child outcomes.
- Maintain effective ongoing communication and collaboration with the ABA team and other providers in Children's Village.
- Collaborate with school districts, Educational Service District, Birth – 3, Primary Care Providers, and other entities to provide a coordinated service plan in collaboration with ABA services.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings as needed to ensure continued service delivery to meet continued treatment plan goals.
- Participate in concurrent discharge planning to ensure a smooth transition to community/educationally based service.
Provide supervision for the Behavioral Technicians on the team to provide best practice interventions for children with ASD and their family.
- Provide 40 hours of training to Behavior Technicians and sign off upon their completion.
- Supervise and review progress of the behavior technicians to ensure proper implementation of the treatment plan
- Provide one hour of supervision for Certified Behavior Technicians for every 20 hours of direct service
- Provide needed resources and guidance to behavior technicians in the implementation of behavior plans
- Educate allied service providers on ABA and services which will enhance the functioning of a child with ASD.
- Provide annual evaluations and professional development plans for supervisees.

Physical Requirements:This position normally requires the physical demands of standing, walking, bending, or performing other work requiring low physical exertion, talking and hearing and adequate vision on a regular basis to perform job requirements. These physical demands are required up to 80% of the time. In addition, approximately 20% of the time may include physically assisting a child exhibiting behavior problems to ensure the safety of other children and staff. There may be times that sitting on the floor or in small chairs will be required. The position also requires ability to drive with adequate vision.
Non-Physical Requirements:Education
- MA or MS in Psychology, Behavior Analysis, Developmental Psychology, Special Education, or other related degree with Board Certification as a Behavior Analyst.
Experience
- Two years’ experience in evaluation and treatment in a ABA environment, preferably children with ASD.
- Previous experience in the implementation of a therapeutic classroom, home-based and center-based ABA program strongly preferred.
- Experience in supervision desired or professional development plan to acquire the skills.
Special Skills
- Possess strong functional assessment and behavioral management skills with children with ASD.
- Demonstrated skill in developing treatment plans and implementing ABA treatment.
- Ability to supervise Behavior Technicians implementing treatment.
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate with children, team, and allied providers.
- Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Ability to represent the agency and program in a professional manner within the community.
- Ability to give and receive constructive feedback.
- Computer proficiency skills.
- Qualified to supervise BCBA and BCaBA field work, preferred.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required.
Licensure, Registration, Certification
- Board Certified Behavior Analyst certification required.
- Licensed Behavior Analyst certification or ability to get this certification required.
- Valid Washington State driver’s license and minimum required liability insurance for WA State.
