SUMMARY: Under the direction of the physician, the Certified Medical Assistant will perform all clinical duties usually required of a Certified Medical Assistant in a medical office. Employee would work primarily around main campus in Sidney, OH in our Medical Offices. But could on occasions work at our other locations in Jackson Center, Anna, and Botkins, OH. The Certified Medical Assistant shall report directly to the Clinical Administrator of Wilson Health Medical Group. All clinical medical assistants are required to maintain continuous certification.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Performs all duties under the supervision of the physician, and within the guidelines established by the physician; anticipates duties that need to be performed and strives to make the physician as efficient and effective as possible.
  2. Greets patients in courteously, and assists patients to the examination room in a helpful and compassionate manner; conducts self according to ASPIRE values.
  3. Obtains and accurately records vital signs, chief complaint, current medications and allergies.
  4. Assists physician with examinations, including blood draws, lab specimens, injections, electrocardiograms; assists physician with minor surgical procedures.
  5. Educates patients/family members on topics related to the patient's medical condition and care within the guidelines established by the physician.
  6. Documents in the patient's medical record accurately, appropriately, and thoroughly.
  7. Assists in ordering diagnostic tests and procedures, and making referrals, including referral tracking documentation in the practice management system.
  8. Communicates with patients and family members in a professional and compassionate manner; communicates test results under the guidance and direction of the physician.
  9. Performs quality control measures on all appropriate medical testing equipment, refrigerators, sterilizers; properly completes compliance logs regarding quality control.
  10. Maintains proper inventory of medical and lab supplies; orders supplies according to established guidelines.
  11. Follows all applicable federal and state laws and regulations; follows Wilson Health Medical Group and Wilson Health policies and procedures; always follows HIPAA Privacy and Security Practices.
  12. Assists with scheduling patients, faxing and electronic communications, telephone duties, form completion and other clerical duties as needed to maintain an efficient, effective medical office.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  1. High school diploma or equivalent
  2. Certification as a Medical Assistant or Clinical Medical Assistant
  3. Graduation from accredited Medical Assisting program and/or two (2) years of experience working in the medical field as a medical assistant
Or
  1. Required Minimum Education: Vocational/ Technical Degree

    Specialty/Major: Licensed Practical Nursing


LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. The Certified Medical Assistant must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
