POPULSION TEST ENGINEER I/II 

Based out of our Archimedes test site at Stennis Space center, our Propulsion Test Engineers will be responsible for engineering work related to Archimedes engine testing. The work will be focused on our Archimedes engine achieving its functional requirements to the required quality and schedule. Propulsion Test Engineers will have the scope to direct engineering efforts across and outside the direct team in the best interest of the company. 

WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO:  

  • Serve as a Test Engineer on a team of engineers and technicians who run liquid rocket engine propulsion tests 
  • Design, construct, operate and maintain propulsion test facilities 
  • Generate and execute detailed test procedures 
  • Work directly with Test IT systems including LabVIEW, data acquisition hardware, PLC networks. This will include development of Human Machine Interface in custom software.
  • Review and interpret test data for facility health and engine performance 
  • Specify and procure components and propellants 
  • Work with vendors and subcontractors 
  • Plan and oversee facility schedule 
  • Support requirements development in conjunction with the propulsion design team to establish needs for test sequencing 
  • Establish requirements for new facility capability 
  • Contribute to configuration management, quality, cost, and process control 
  • Be an advocate for safety of the test team and the test stand operations 

QUALIFICATIONS YOU’LL BRING AS A PROPULSION TEST ENGINEER I: 

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or other technical discipline 
  • Knowledge of structural design and analysis, cryogenics systems design, high pressure gas systems design and manufacturing techniques. 

 QUALIFICATIONS YOU’LL BRING AS A PROPULSION TEST ENGINEER II: 

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or other technical discipline 
  • 2+ years of experience in propulsion test and operations 
  • Knowledge of structural design and analysis, cryogenics systems design, high pressure gas systems design and manufacturing techniques. 

 THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE:  

  • Demonstrated skills within the rocket propulsion industry where applicable to deliver required company outcomes 
  • Direct experience with liquid natural gas or liquid methane as a rocket propellant 
  • Demonstrated excellence in leading a test program from concept to completion 
  • Background of technical expertise in sub-component to full flight system testing 
  • Software development for data acquisition and control systems 
  • Working knowledge of complex IT systems associated with propulsion testing 
  • Working knowledge of complex IT systems associated with propulsion testing 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.   
  • Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, operate computer keyboard and controls, and communicate verbally and in writing.  
  • Must be physically able to commute to buildings 
  • Occasional exposure to dust, fumes and moderate levels of noise.
