Job Title desktop administrator I 6 Month Contract to Hire Description The Desktop Administrator I shares responsibility and accountability for the effective lifecycle management of the personal and mobile computing devices, including processes and technologies associated with acquisition, inventory and asset management, imaging and installation, configuration, maintenance, renewal, and disposal. The Desktop Administrator coordinates the activities of 2-3 part-time student employees who support the lifecycle management activities. Essential Responsibilities: • Actively leads the lifecycle management of the personal and mobile computing devices and software, including device family determination, testing of OS image, inventory, and deployment of baseline system configuration for Windows, Apple Mac OS, and Apple iOS devices. • Supports the resolution of technology issues. Ensures that assigned incidents and requests are responded to and resolved following established standards. • Identifies, utilizes, and maintains methods and technologies to promote efficient device and software configuration management. • Collaborates on the maintenance and renewal of systems and software configuration management tools. • Effectively integrates third-party hardware (e.g., printers, scanners, copiers) and software into the personal and mobile computing environment. • Establishes and documents best practices for the technical support of personal computing and mobile devices. • Evaluates and recommends devices and software to satisfy specified requirements. • Applies principles and practices that promote the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the information and information and technology services. • Collaborates with other IT staff and the community members on assigned projects. • Maintains a constituent-centric approach at all times. Demonstrates professionalism in contact with others. • Engages in a planned program of professional development. Continually maintains skills and knowledge relative to the position and technology industry, including best practices, evolving operational requirements, and industry trends. • Strengthen digital literacy skills through education and the application of digital technologies to effectively engage in information gathering, utilization, and data management while promoting a security culture. • Must complete all required federal, state, institution, and department training. • Engages in a planned program of professional development. Continually maintains skills and knowledge relative to the position and technology industry, including best practices, evolving operational requirements, and industry trends. • Demonstrate an awareness of and sensitivity to unique social, cultural, and economic circumstances. • Demonstrate knowledge of the philosophy and mission. • Performs other related duties as required. Skills Desktop, Windows 10, Hardware, Support, Windows, Imaging, Customer service, Ticketing system, Troubleshooting, Active directory, Technical support, Help desk, Office 365, Windows 7, Mac, mdm, jamf Top Skills Details Experience with JAMF. Administration experience preferred. 1-3 years of desktop support experience. Mixture of macOS and Windows preferred. Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy and Print Services. A+ Cert preferred. Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent academic preparation from a regionally accredited college or the equivalent combination of experience, education, and training • 1-3 years of relevant experience supporting desktop and mobile computing systems. • Experience with Microsoft Windows Active Directory, Group Policy, Windows registry, Windows File and Print Services. • Working experience Apple operating systems • Experience with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud, and similar productivity tools. • Familiar with ITIL (or related) service management practices, including incident, problem, configuration, and change management • A+, ITIL, or similar certifications are preferred. • Ability to provide guidance and counsel to clients • Self-motivated and proactive; works effectively with limited oversight and direction; attentive to detail; organized; ably manages resources, constituencies, projects of varying size, and multiple and competing priorities and deadlines. • Willingness to learn the academic and administrative functions of a higher ed institution. • The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and have the skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required.
