Position Summary: Work within the nursing process to provide direct nursing care to assigned patients in ICU. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures in order to deliver safe care to patients.

Detailed responsibilities:

  • Deliver safe direct care to assigned patients consistent with clinical specialty
  • Work within Hospitals, Nursing division and departmental policies
  • Implement and document individualized care plans
  • Assist with special tests and procedures
  • Participate in orientation and precepting of new personnel
  • Assist with or institute emergency measures for sudden, adverse developments in patients
  • Ensure that patient medical records contain necessary information
  • Administer medication, including IV medication, via the Seven Rights; document and communicate clinical findings
  • Maintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients/families in accordance with Hospitals standards
  • Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs
  • Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols
  • Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk
  • Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish

Qualifications:

  • Program Graduate of a Nationally Accredited Nursing Graduate Program
  • 1 year directly related experience in ICU
  • CPR for Healthcare/BLS required
  • RN in NM or as allowed by reciprocal agreement by NM
  • Bilingual English/Spanish

Physical Conditions: Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.

Working conditions: Signature Hazard: Chemicals, Bio Hazardous Materials require PPE.
