Cardiovascular Technologist

  • Outpatient
Shift: Varied Hours, M-F 2:30pm to 8pm and Saturday 8a to 4pm

Job Description: As an Outpatient Cardiovascular Technologist, you will play a crucial role in performing diagnostic tests and procedures to evaluate cardiovascular health. Your expertise will directly contribute to the early detection and effective management of cardiovascular conditions in our outpatient setting. The Cardiovascular Technologist:
  • Performs color flow echocardiograms.
  • Administers stress echocardiograms and assists cardiologists with transesophageal echocardiograms.
  • Conducts additional non-invasive procedures, including EKGs and EEGs.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Complies with WPH Performance Standards, Policies, and Behaviors.
  • Performs color flow Doppler echocardiograms following established protocols.
  • Conducts stress echocardiograms in accordance with established protocols.
  • Assists cardiologists during transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) procedures.
  • Submits high-quality echocardiogram images within the designated time frame.
  • Independently performs echocardiograms without delegation.
  • Independently carries out other non-invasive tests, such as EKGs and Holter monitoring, without delegation.
  • Proficiently operates medical equipment, including EKG and EEG machines.
  • Skilled in using office equipment, such as copy machines, fax machines, and computers.
  • Identifies and reports equipment malfunctions.
  • Maintains safety standards and adheres to infection control guidelines at all times.
  • Handles routine office tasks, including answering phones, checking in patients, and retrieving previous reports/films, as needed.
  • Contributes to the performance improvement program.
  • Collaborates effectively with all members of the practice team.
  • Conducts additional non-invasive procedures as required.
  • Recognizes abnormal echocardiogram findings and communicates critical situations to appropriate personnel.
  • Capable of interacting with patients across all age groups, from neonates to geriatrics.
  • Participates in coverage rotation to other outpatient locations.
  • Duties and working hours may be adjusted based on the needs of offsite practices.
  • May be required to work holidays, overtime, and/or various shifts to ensure adequate coverage for the outpatient facility.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Completed an accredited cardiovascular ultrasound program.
  • Certification as a Registered Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist, ARDMS, or CCI preferred.
  • At least two years of experience performing echocardiograms.
  • Experience with additional non-invasive cardiovascular procedures.
  • Successful completion of orientation program in accordance with departmental guidelines.
