Role Purpose:
Under the guidance of experienced professionals, the Cardiovascular Technologist plays a vital role in the cardiovascular care team. This position involves assisting in the preparation and maintenance of patient monitoring devices and laboratory systems, contributing to the accurate diagnosis and effective treatment of heart conditions while ensuring patient safety and comfort.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with Interventional Cardiologists and Cardiologists during cardiac catheterization and other diagnostic procedures.
2. Deliver safe and efficient care to cardiovascular patients, adhering to established policies and standards.
3. Prepare and position patients for various procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are ready.
4. Assist in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac conditions by supporting physicians during procedures and monitoring patients.
5. Ensure all necessary equipment and supplies are available in the cardiac catheterization labs prior to procedures.
6. Adhere to safety protocols and infection control measures to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
7. Set up, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment according to manufacturer guidelines, promptly addressing any issues.
8. Manage inventory and ensure the availability of necessary supplies, reporting any expired items.
9. Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance and quality control documentation.
10. Utilize electronic medical records to document patient encounters and manage relevant data.
11. Monitor patients' physiological data before, during, and after procedures, including performing electrocardiograms (EKG/ECG).
12. Review and complete procedural reports in accordance with established guidelines.
13. Communicate effectively with physicians and staff, promptly reporting any abnormal findings.
Qualifications:
1. Certification from a recognized national agency in cardiovascular specialization is required.
2. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is mandatory.
