The Quantum Information and Integrated Nanosystems Group at MIT Lincoln Laboratory develops quantum systems, including theory, engineering, and control, to address critical future technology needs. Areas of focus include developing superconducting qubits for quantum computing, trapped ions for quantum information and precision time keeping, integrated photonics, and solid-state quantum sensing. The group's innovative research is supported by on-site state-of-the-art fabrication tools, close partnership with universities and industry, extensive test and measurement infrastructure, and daily collaboration with the 1700+ Ph.D-level scientists within Lincoln Laboratory.
Job DescriptionThe quantum information and integrated nanosystems group at MIT Lincoln Laboratory seeks a full-time technical staff member to join our research team of quantum information and computing scientists. The range of theoretical efforts in the group includes the design and evaluation of fault-tolerant quantum error correction protocols, gate-level implementation of quantum algorithms, and characterization and modeling of noise in quantum devices. A candidate that could establish themselves as an expert in one or more of these areas is desired.
The ideal candidate should be able to make contributions in one or more of the following areas:
- Quantum computer architecture both near-term and future (5+ years)
- Design, optimization, and resource analysis of quantum circuits
- Quantum error correction, fault-tolerance, and syndrome decoding
- Quantum Characterization Verification & Validation (QCVV)
- Development of compilation and simulation tools to enable the analysis of quantum architectures and circuits
PhD in Physics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field. Must have a strong background in theoretical quantum computer science. Experience with quantum algorithms, quantum circuits, or quantum error correction is required. The ability to develop software in programming languages such as: C++, Python, Matlab, and/or Mathematica is required. Experience with high-performance computing is desired.
