Our team engages in a diverse array of experimental and prototyping projects, focusing on the development of superconducting and trapped-ion qubits, ion optical clocks, and various quantum sensors utilizing solid-state systems, including nitrogen-vacancy centers in diamond.

Key Responsibilities

As a vital member of the Advanced Technology Division, you will engage in research and development of component and subsystem-level technologies that can transform Department of Defense (DoD) systems and elevate the capabilities of U.S. industry. Our multidisciplinary expertise spans biology, chemistry, computer science, device physics, integrated circuit design and fabrication, lithography, materials science, nanofabrication, optics, optoelectronics, packaging, photonics, quantum information systems, and RF technology.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled quantum physicist/engineer to contribute to the design and construction of next-generation quantum sensors. This role involves pioneering sensor development that exploits unique quantum properties across various technologies, from nitrogen vacancies in diamond to trapped ions and superconducting circuits. Candidates should possess a solid understanding of quantum theory and experimental methodologies, along with experience in sensor design and experimental control.

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and skill enhancement while tackling complex challenges. Essential skills include:

  • Proficient laboratory and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities
  • Capacity to work both independently and collaboratively within a team

Required Qualifications

Ph.D. degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience in atomic-molecular optics or quantum defect centers.

Preferred Skills

Experience in quantum engineering, fielding quantum systems, developing measurement protocols, and modeling spin systems is highly desirable.
