Position Overview

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking applications for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty role within the Department of Computer and Information Sciences. This position is designed for a 3-year term with the possibility of extension.

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching a diverse range of undergraduate courses in computer science. Additional duties will include student advising, contributing to academic development, engaging in scholarly activities, and fostering professional citizenship. The teaching load will be structured as follows:

  • 3 class sections (9 teaching credits) per semester for those accepting full responsibilities.
  • 4 class sections (12 teaching credits) per semester for those with reduced responsibilities.

Faculty members are expected to adhere to military customs and wear uniforms, although prior military experience is not a prerequisite.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A minimum of a master's degree in computer science or a closely related discipline is required; a Ph.D. is preferred.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching and the ability to mentor undergraduate students in research initiatives is essential.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with specialized knowledge in networking, cybersecurity, and information technology.
