Qualifications: • Associates Degree preferred

  • Skills to support the school district's curriculum and instructional approaches

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work with the rotations of classes coming to check out books
  1. Organize a schedule for classrooms to use the Maker Space
  2. Support and reinforce the classroom teacher's instructional plan in order for the student to reach their highest potential, attain grade level proficiency, and improve achievement.
  3. Collaborate with the teacher in order to reinforce and/or support the students in all Core Curriculum areas. Instructional support may be provided to students within the classroom or during small group sessions outside of the classroom.
  4. Assist with the completion of student needs assessments.
  5. Maintain confidentiality of school related information.
  6. Demonstrates understanding of students' needs, and interacts appropriately with students, parents, and other employees.
  7. Follows instructions of teaching staff and reinforces program philosophy and consistency in classroom procedures.
  8. Demonstrates initiative and creativity with individual children and their program implementations; follows through with prescribed reading support programs.
  9. Keeps records, maintains instructional materials and supplies, and procures necessary materials, as required.
  10. Assists with the development of instructional materials.
  11. Initiates actions which are required without specific direction from the teacher.
  12. Maintains composure under stressful conditions.
  13. Work with building staff to develop a student service schedule.
  14. Assist in the selection of students into the Support Reading/Title I program through the direction of the classroom teacher, District Literacy Coordinator, principal and counselor. (As applicable)
  15. Prepare promotional materials to encourage and motivate students.
  16. Provide a neat and attractive work environment to promote an atmosphere conducive to positive learning.
  17. Assist students in learning to work independently by setting priorities and planning for the use of their time.
  18. Maintain an inventory of all instructional materials used in the Title I/Support Reading program. (As applicable)
  19. Assist in the administration of the NWEA, MKEO, and other local and state assessments under the direction of a certified staff member.
  20. Recess and lunchroom support
  21. Assist in the training of new paraprofessionals.
  22. Assist with parent involvement activities.
  23. Participate in professional development activities within and outside of the district.
  24. Other duties as assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in hot temperatures and extreme temperatures below ten degrees and occasionally will walk on slippery/uneven surfaces. The employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints and interact with the public and others. The employee has direct responsibility for the safety and well-being of others. The employee is often exposed to fumes and airborne particles and frequently must work in outside weather. The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud to where you have to raise your voice to be heard.
