The Lead Merchandiser (LM) is responsible for overseeing the merchandising of two or more Home Depot Garden Centers in a District. This is a traveling position where the employee would reside in the Madison Heights/Sterling Heights or Warren areas. Mileage reimbursement is included. This position will start week of March 14, 2022. This is a SEASONAL position with Full Time hours available during the season. Responsibilities include merchandising to company standards, implementing store promotions, setting weekly ads, working in conjunction with their District Manager/Market Manager to monitor inventory levels, ensure inventory accuracy, and support the on-boarding and coaching of new-hires while achieving sales objectives within a timely manner. Lead Merchandisers are also ultimately responsible for ensuring the highest level of customer service throughout their Garden Centers. A Lead Merchandisers is a role model to their merchandisers. They must solve problems, make informed decisions, and manage their workforce and time wisely in order to achieve maximum results. Tasks and Responsibilities Assist the District Manager/Market Manager and HR Generalist as needed in the recruitment and hiring exceptional talent to meet staffing needs. Train and coach staff in the execution of daily tasks and best practices. Ensure required training is completed by store staff. Ensure ongoing work objectives are met through efficient management of time and resources. Provide constructive suggestions, encouragement, honest feedback and expectations to staff Manage issues relating to Garden Center maintenance and safety. Role model Bell safety practices and procedures and, ensure incident / accident reporting and policy compliance. Ensure the correct interpretation, communication, and implementation of Bells Plan-O-Gram program as directed by leadership. Ensure that proper channels of communication exist between Bell Nursery, our client and vendor partners. Ensure staff compliance of established Company policies and standards. Proactively help identify and solve problems that affect the Garden Centers efficiency, productivity, and overall service. Work with merchandising staff regarding all aspects of responsibilities including signing product for all sales and Home Depot ads and merchandising for all third-party vendor product. Stock tables and displays with merchandise while keeping garden center in order and plan-o-gram compliant. Assist with the movement of product from delivery trucks to the sale floor. Support store personnel and assume other activates as needed. Any other tasks as directed by leadership. Ability to manage store operations and to merchandise effectively. Ability to provide outstanding customer service. Ability to maintain a fair and consistent set of standards as they apply to the workforce. Ability to adjust priorities and manage time wisely in a fast-paced environment. Ability to communicate in a clear, concise, manner. Listen actively to ensure understanding of material and provide instruction to the workforce. A basic knowledge of plants and gardening or an interest in learning about plants and gardening. Candidate must be able to understand how to merchandise live goods or be willing to learn.
