Education: High School Diploma or High School Equivalency

Qualifications: A minimum of one year experience working in PowerSchool or similar student information system.

Experience or demonstrable skills:
  • using PowerSchool to support the day-to-day operation of a K12 school.
  • using Microsoft Excel to manipulate large data sets.
  • communicating and working in a professional environment.


Job Goal: Support and maintain the day-to-day use of PowerSchool and related applications to support the operations of the district and individual schools.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:

  1. Understands the importance of the Technology Department mission statement.
  2. Initial contact person for issues and service requests dealing with PowerSchool and other related applications.
  3. Provide excellent customer service by being professional, patient, and have a "people-first" attitude.
  4. Work directly with the Data Services Coordinator to fulfill state reporting requirements.
  5. Collaborate with Data Services Coordinator and/or Technology Manager to ensure data integrations to and from other systems are functional.
  6. Maintain and manage a document library of training, help, and quick tips for PowerSchool users.
  7. Develop and implement instructional plans to help other district employees become more efficient in the use of PowerSchool and other related applications.
  8. Other duties as assigned by the Technology Manager and/or Data Services Coordinator.
Knowledge Required:
  1. Principles and practices of effective student information system use at district and school level.
  2. Ability to troubleshoot issues reported in various applications and understand how to effectively come up with a timely solution.
  3. The importance of documenting process and procedures when troubleshooting or fulfilling service requests.
  4. Planning and managing the implementation of new applications or features with a focus on ensuring the stakeholders are trained and properly prepared.
Skills Required:
  1. Effective problem solving and decision-making skills.
  2. Effectively using verbal and written communication when collaborating with teachers, staff and administration while striving to maintain a good working relationship with all employees.
  3. Understanding state and federal regulations governing information security, including FERPA, in an educational environment.
  4. Prioritizing job tasks throughout the day and plans work completion accordingly.


Work Environment and Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; occasionally walk and stand. The ability to hear and see in order to communicate effectively as well as communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; Maintain effective audio/visual discrimination and perception to the degree necessary for the successful performance of assigned duties; Maintain mental capacity, allowing for effective interaction and communication with others.

Terms of Employment: Twelve (12) months

Evaluation: Annual written evaluation by the Supervisor.
