Assistant Director Residential Life

The Assistant Director of Residential Life provides leadership and administrative oversight to ensure the success of the Residential Life program at Assumption University. The Assistant Director is responsible for managing a range of operational, educational, and developmental activities within the residence halls, aiming to promote personal, spiritual, and community growth among students.
Accountabilities:
Supervision and Leadership:
- Supervise, support and evaluate up to four Resident Directors.
- Serve as a key member of the Residential Life leadership team, contributing to program planning and decision-making.
- Organizes and attends Residential Life staff meetings.
- Assists the Director in hiring, onboarding and evaluating Resident Director staff
- Coordinate monthly meetings with head resident assistants.
- Oversee day-to-day housing department operations
- Prepares and maintains weekly occupancy reports and statistics and distribute to appropriate offices on campus.
- Work with the Assistant Director of Community Standards on the oversight of monthly Health Fire Safety inspections.
- Coordinate summer housing, early arrival, and break housing processes
- Coordinate all housing selection/lottery and assignment processes for all students, including incoming student roommate and room matching.
- Coordinate damage billing processes.
- Responsible for key management for all residence halls (tracking, ordering, etc.) and work with the Director and IT to oversee card access changes during the academic year
- Work with Buildings & Grounds to coordinate damage assessment and billing, furniture replacement and regular building walkthroughs.
- Work with the Director and Buildings & Grounds to identify and assess priorities for residence hall renovation and enhancements.
- Participate in the Housing Accommodation Committee and manage placement for students with medical needs.
- Oversee the management, implementation of and training Residential Life staff with The Housing Director (THD.)
- Manage Residential Life external website and portal content including collaboration other departments on campus .
- Ensure adequate marketing of Residential Life to incoming and current students through various channels, including but not limited to social media, email marketing and events on campus.
- Serve as a member of the Administrator On Call team
- Participate in Student Affairs and campus-wide committees.
- Maintain office hours from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM and perform other duties as assigned.
- A master's degree in Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, or a related field.
- 2-3 years of professional experience in a higher education institution with a strong central office system is highly desirable.
- Experience working with The Housing Director or a similar housing software system
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Commitment to the mission of the University and respect for its Catholic identity
This role is essential to the operation of the University, particularly in maintaining a safe and supportive residential environment for students. The Assistant Director of Residential Life must be available for emergency situations and is expected to model exemplary personal conduct and discretion.
