The Nurse Educator, a qualified registered nurse, holds the authority, responsibility, and accountability for the provision of nursing education. Their primary goals include orientation, continuing education, and sustained support for the nursing staff. It is essential for the Nurse Educator to exhibit the knowledge and educational process needed to evaluate, design, and deliver the requisite educational programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Builds and sustains productive internal and external working relationships through team building, mentoring, and positive communication.

  • Communicates effectively across various media to engage audiences and ensure message retention.

  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives within the department, leveraging research and evidence-based practices to enhance clinical care.

  • Receives feedback constructively and mentors' new staff and preceptors to ensure their success.

  • Acts as a resource for patients and staff, contributing to performance improvement projects and engaging in self-assessment.

  • Demonstrates initiative, works independently, and sets priorities to achieve organizational goals.

  • Maintains professional certifications and engages with professional and community organizations to develop coaching skills.

  • Leads orientation and continuing education programs, applying the nursing process to teach patient care management, including assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and discharge planning.

  • Contributes to the development of nursing care standards and policies.

  • BSN Required (BSN waived if MSN obtained in program not conferring BSNs)

  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience

  • Relevant teaching experience

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

  • Registered Nurse (RN)

  • Act 34
