Position Overview
As a key member of the healthcare team, you will provide clinical leadership for all facets of patient care within an acute care environment, emphasizing patient and family-centered approaches. You will demonstrate clinical expertise by applying evidence-based practices across the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and outcomes. Your role will include integrating knowledge of safety protocols, cost management, and quality enhancement throughout the nursing process. You will identify priorities at the patient, unit, and organizational levels and incorporate these into your nursing practice.
Compliance and Standards
Adhere to all organizational policies and compliance standards, including but not limited to: licensure renewal, mandatory training, employee health evaluations, attendance policies, dress code, patient confidentiality, infection control, and medication administration. Maintain knowledge of regulatory agency standards (TJC, SC DPH, CMS) and provide care in accordance with the South Carolina Nurse Practice Act.
Work Schedule
This position may require flexible scheduling, including weekends, holidays, and on-call duties.
Key Responsibilities
Assessment:
Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments utilizing age-specific standards and tools. Recognize and document changes in patient status and responses to interventions. Collaborate with healthcare team members to establish nursing priorities for the care plan.
Planning and Outcomes:
Create individualized care plans based on patient assessments and needs, collaborating with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team. Adjust plans as necessary based on patient condition changes and ensure continuity of care.
Implementation:
Deliver direct patient care aligned with established nursing plans. Execute tasks in accordance with organizational policies and RN scope of practice. Delegate appropriate nursing tasks to team members and monitor the quality of care provided.
Evaluation:
Continuously assess patient responses to interventions, documenting progress towards expected outcomes and revising care plans as needed. Engage in discussions with peers and team members regarding patient outcomes and quality improvement opportunities.
Patient and Family Education:
Assess learning needs of patients and families, providing education in an understandable manner. Utilize resources effectively to enhance patient understanding and involvement in their care.
Professional Accountability:
Reflect on nursing practice against professional standards and state regulations. Maintain licensure and engage in ongoing education to ensure competency in nursing practice.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate's Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred.
One year of experience as a registered nurse is necessary.
Licensure Requirements
Must hold a valid Registered Nurse license in South Carolina.
Work Shift
Night shift availability is required.
