Overview

POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Technology Transfer Specialist (TTS) will successfully identify the needs of stakeholders around opioid use disorder and stimulant use disorder. As part of the Opioid Response Network (ORN), the TTS will respond to technical assistance (TA) requests and facilitate planning, communication, and provision of appropriate TA with individuals and organizations, such as training and educational programming and matching evidence-based interventions to state specific needs and requests. Alongside the Project Director, the TTS will lead communication channels among TA providers, ensure proper staffing of regional TA teams, and ensure proper execution of TA deliverables. Related responsibilities include working independently to coordinate additional project activities and overseeing day-to-day project operations. This position requires an understanding of evidence-based practices (EBPs), treatment, and recovery support services for substance, stimulant, and opioid use disorder, as well as the ability to work independently with professionals from a variety of disciplines (e.g., psychiatry, nursing, medicine, social work, corrections and behavioral health).

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Identify and assess the needs of stakeholders related to opioid use disorder and stimulant use disorder.
  • Build and maintain relationships with individuals and organizations to understand specific needs and deliver customized solutions.
  • Respond to incoming TA requests from the Opioid Response Network (ORN).
  • Facilitate the development and implementation of TA plans, ensuring alignment with evidence-based practices (EBPs) and state-specific needs.
  • Coordinate and oversee the delivery of TA, including training, educational programming, and the implementation of evidence-based interventions.
  • Collaborate with the Project Director to lead communication among TA providers and stakeholders.
  • Ensure proper staffing of regional TA teams to support timely and effective service delivery.
  • Serve as a point of contact to troubleshoot issues, provide guidance, and ensure that deliverables are met.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of project activities, ensuring tasks are completed on time and within scope.
  • Independently manage and coordinate additional project activities as needed, maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of TA activities, providing feedback and recommendations for improvement.
  • Apply knowledge of evidence-based practices (EBPs) in the treatment and recovery support for substance, stimulant, and opioid use disorders.
  • Collaborate with professionals from various disciplines, including psychiatry, nursing, medicine, social work, corrections, and behavioral health.
  • Stay informed about current research, policy developments, and best practices in substance use disorder treatment and recovery support.
  • Document and report on TA activities and outcomes.
  • Prepare materials, presentations, and reports for stakeholders and leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, grant requirements, and project goals.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 3-5 years of experience in a related field or project management in mental health or behavioral health; or a Master’s Degree in public health, psychology or a related field
  • Previous experience in a research setting or in public health.
  • Requires a valid driver’s license and car for travel throughout the region, will require overnight travel.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with substance use and mental health state and community agencies from a wide variety of disciplines (i.e., corrections settings, treatment centers, etc.)
  • Knowledge of and/or experience working in the field of substance use disorder treatment or recovery support, and regional and community organizations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Google Suite, Zoom (meetings and webinars)
  • Coursework in addiction, substance use and/or psychopharmacology is preferred.
  • This position requires flexibility and willingness to adapt to and meet changing priorities and state-imposed deadlines.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, but also highly independently using both a proactive and reactive problem-solving orientation.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effort to meet project goals.
  • Ability to work effectively with people of diverse culture and educational backgrounds and in a variety of roles.
  • Ability to develop procedures for identification, assessment, and delivery of intensive technical assistance and fidelity monitoring.
