Summary Responsible for the development of a new Housing Program to assist unaccompanied young adults experiencing homelessness with stable housing placement and wraparound services. The Housing Coordinator will initiate and maintain relationships with private market landlords to create housing opportunities for young adults in the North Central Worcester County. This is a dynamic position, working directly with the young adult population, landlords in the community, and area providers to match applicants with the best possible housing option that meets each individual’s needs. Primary Responsibilities Develop and implement an outreach and marketing plan to identify landlords and available housing units for the YHDP Program. Create a housing inventory of apartment options for young adults experiencing homelessness. Cultivate positive relationships with local landlords to secure housing units. Serve as the primary point of contact for the landlords in order to provide information, and education, and support regarding housing issues specific to the program. Act as a go-between with the landlord, clinical team, and program participant. Collaborate with key providers (LUK, CMHA, APW) to ensure appropriate housing matches are assessed for each young adult. Communicate consistently and effectively with management, providers, and funders regarding all aspects of program development and progress. Build positive relationship with young adults in order to understand their housing goals and overall ambitions. Provide transportation solutions in order to view housing options. Prepare leases and proper documentation for landlords and tenants as units are secured. Once housed, provide comprehensive referrals and warm hand-offs to case management provider. Post housing placement, mediate issues that arise between the landlord and young adult tenant. Address issues related to maintenance, health and safety, housing quality concerns, and rent payments. Inspect units and assess condition for potential damages. Arrange for repairs if needed. Demonstrate appropriate behavior and language for tenants, landlords, and the community. Monitor and evaluate progress of each young adult. Participate in both internal and external providers’ team meetings, including community-based meetings or groups. Maintain the records for the program, including all outcome measures, data requirements, and financial record keeping as required by the agency and funders. Engage all clients by understanding and addressing their needs whether within or outside the scope of work. Attend & participate in team meetings as requested and communicate effectively with clients and staff in other areas. Maintain confidentiality of client, employee and agency information in accordance with federal and state laws and funder requirements. Ensure compliance with program/department, agency and/or funder requirements, as well as, SMOC policies & procedures. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge and Skill Requirements Experience in working with the young adult (18-24yo) population. Ability to adhere to program regulations and standards Outstanding verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, conflict resolution abilities Respect to diversity, equity, and inclusion Ability to inspire, motivate, and work effectively with individuals living with multiple barriers to stable housing. Maintain professional and positive attitude Demonstrated understanding of best practices in property management. Proficient in MS Office programs including WORD, Outlook, and Excel. Flexible schedule, may include evenings and weekends A degree or diploma in a related field Organizational Relationship: Directly reports to Managing Director, N. Worcester County. Indirectly reports to the Director of Regional Program Operations. Physical Requirements: Ability to operate an automobile. Ability to reach overhead; to work in various positions, including but not limited to: stooping, standing, bending over, sitting; to lift, pull and push materials as needed; and to lift 50lbs of weight frequently throughout the assigned workday. Working Conditions: As part of the responsibilities of this position, the Young Adult Housing Program Coordinator will have direct or incidental contact with clients served by SMOC in various programs.
